Pre-orders are being taken from TODAY! See our on-line Store for details. The Limited Edition Autographed Version will feature special John Dixon artwork that will NOT be seen in Volume One's regular version. All creative personnel involved in the book (John Dixon, Eddie Campbell, Michal Dutkiewicz and Nat Karmichael) have agreed to sign the finished product!
(This has yet to be confirmed.) It is hoped that all major contributors who have written pieces for the book will be wiling to sign five Special Copies of the book. Two of these rare copies will be presented to John Dixon by Nat Karmichael sometime in 2011. Two of the other copies will be submitted to the National and Queensland Libraries, while the remaining copy will be presented to someone lucky who pre-orders the Autographed Edition. That is, all people pre-ordering the Autographed Edition will go into a draw to win a rare copy Autographed by not only the artists, but all contributors who have written tribute pieces for the book. (These people include: John Dixon's sister, his niece, his (former) Manager, his son and daughter, Jan Rhoades - wife of Australian comic historian John Ryan, John Dixon's wife, and his collaborator from the 1960s - Mike Tabrett.) This is such a rare opportunity to own a rare historical work, that I suggest you click immediately to the on-line Store, because there is a limit of only 200 copies of the Autographed Edition of John Dixon, Air Hawk and the Flying Doctor being made available....they won't last long!! |
Comicoz is Nat Karmichael's publishing imprint. Nat is committed to preserving a permanent collection of Australian comic and comic strips. He feels that there is a need to recognise comics' contribution to and depiction of Australian culture.
Nat Karmichael.
Since 2011, Nat has self-published over twelve comic-related books and was Publisher-Editor of Oi Oi Oi! -- the last series of nationally-distributed comic books of original stories to appear on Australian newsstands. He is a member of the Australian Cartoonists Association and edited the Association's journal Inkspot for 14 issues from late 2015. For numerous years he was the Lead Judge in the Ledger of Honour Awards for the Comic Arts Awards of Australia (formerly the Ledgers). These days Nat dreams of retiring from his occupation as a Clinical Nurse in the Psychiatric Emergency Centre in Queensland's largest public hospital, so that he can spend more time with his long-suffering wife and their six children and fourteen grandchildren. And perhaps publish some more comic-related books. Comicoz acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of Country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community. We pay respects to elders, past, present, and emerging, and extend that respect to all First Nations peoples.
