"Truth, Justice and the American Dream: The Men Behind Superman"
Written by Julian Voloj and illustrated by Sydney-based Award-Winning* artist Thomas Campi, this book tells the back story behind the creation of Superman. This is Thomas' first work in English. Comicoz was the first English-language publisher to sign up to publish this project, and is now available!
Comicoz is proud to present its first self-contained graphic novel in the proud European tradition. Based on archival material and original sources, "Truth, Justice and the American Dream: The Men Behind Superman" tells the story of the friendship between writer Jerry Siegel and illustrator Joe Shuster and places the tale in the wider context of the American comic book industry. The $49.95 price tag includes all postage and packing within Australia! (Overseas readers, please enquire about postage costs.)
DON'T be fooled into buying the INFERIOR overseas editions of this book. This edition is larger than the overseas edition, measuring 21 cm x 29 cm, in a deluxe hardcover. The book also features writer Julian Voloj's commentary on the story. Thomas Campi has provided some of his preliminary artwork for the book, and shares some of his artistic process. Short interviews with both creators are also featured. NONE of which is in the overseas editions! Have a look at some of the pages featured here. 220 pages in total, most in full colour! Hardcover with slip-jacket. Regular editions of the book are available here and in all good Australian bookstores for only $49.95 -- But make sure you buy the SUPERIOR Australian edition! The book was expertly designed by Ryan McDonald-Smith.
There is also a special Signed and Numbered Limited Edition Hardcover copy available (for $75). This website is the ONLY place you can obtain the signed edition by Thomas Campi (artist), Julian Voloj (writer) and Nat Karmichael (publisher). Send a message via the Contact tab on this website, and I'll send you details about how you can get a copy. This is only on the basis of a first-come, first-served opportunity, with TEN of only ONE HUNDRED copies already sold! This will NOT be offered again!
"I really believe that this will be the book that will launch Thomas Campi into the artistic mainstream in America, and the English-speaking world." - Nat Karmichael. The book's publication coincided with the 80th Anniversary of the first appearance of Superman in Action Comics #1. Have a look at some of the illustrations for some of the pages here! There is also a draft of a picture of Joe Shuster with Jerry Siegel, especially illustrated by Thomas Campi, that will be used in the special signed and numbered limited edition of the book.
