![]() Comicoz is as proud as punch (whatever that means!) to announce plans to release a brand new Comic Anthology to the Australian Public! Can there be no question as to the need for such a vehicle for all Australian artists and cartoonists to share their stories? Recently, an email canvassing this proposal was sent to a selection of Australian artists and Cartoonists...and I was overwhelmed with the incredible response of people wanting to contribute to the First Edition. Initially, I was planning to include pages dedicated to works from Artists from long ago. (I had eight pages of previously unpublished works from Sydney artist Syd Miller from 1927 that I felt were deserving of publication.) My thinking was that I may need to beef the page count up a little. How wrong I was! Within a short space of time, I have already found enough modern material to fill the First Edition, and some of the Second! I am only hoping that the Australian Public is just as enthused in supporting this product. To this end, I am ensuring that this comic magazine will be jam-packed with only the best artists and cartoonists this country can offer. Anton Emdin is presently working on the cover (see above). Inside there will be all-new pages from Bruce Mutard, Glen Le Lievre, Dillon Naylor and SCAR Studios. Artists whose works I greatly admire will also feature: Rob Feldman, Tony Thorne and Josh Santospirito. And there were other artists who (due to other commitments, to the narrow deadline, not hearing about it in time or other reasons) just were not able to make the First Issue! All in all, the total page count for the First Issue will come to a whopping 52 pages. The publication will be prepared for the printer in the coming month, with an expected release taking place at Sydney's Supanova. Can't make it to that event? Copies will also be made available via this web-site. I can't give you a price for the magazine just yet, but I am planning on keeping it under the $10 mark (including postage within Australia). From now until March 24th, I will offer a FREE copy to EVERYONE who orders a copy of the NED KELLY book. More details will be published as they come to hand. So please tell your friends, share the message via Social Media (as I will). In order that this venture is a successful one, there is a need for not only Australian Artists and Cartoonists willing to contribute, there is a need for people to WANT TO READ IT! READERS are what will keep this venture a viable one, so that is why I am now asking YOU to please PASS on this MESSAGE! |
